Before we know it, temperatures are going to dip and we’ll be reaching for our winter coats once again. For our real estate clients, this means making sure that their doormen are kept warm, without sacrificing style. Yet increasingly, style means different things to different customers so over the years we’ve widened our designs so that our more traditional clientele remains happy while clients who want a more contemporary look feel like they are on the cutting edge of fashion. Here are some of our unique overcoats for 2016-17.

Starting with the old guard, pre and post war buildings still go for styles such as the Continental Doorman coat a sleekly tailored, five button, double-breasted wool overcoat that can be customized with a variety of braids, buttons and colors. This coat can work for many buildings, regardless of zip code because it is timeless and classic. The same is true of the Overcoat Style A, a four-button double-breasted jacket with a convertible collar that looks similar to a peacoat.

Kensington Doorman Coat

The Kensington Doorman Coat, a double-breasted coat with a cape, has a baroque air, making it perfect for buildings with ornate architecture. As is true of all of our overcoats, it can be made customized but the model shown here, with black wool and red piping, makes a dramatic statement. The Claridge Coat is just as eye catching. It has a more traditional look, which has buttons on both sides and buttons up to the neck.

The newer residential buildings and hotels are more often than not going for something that is going to set them apart. Sometimes this means taking a classic design and giving it a twist. Our Overcoat Style B, has a velvet color and can be even more jazzed up with colored braids or buttons.

A new cool look that we have been doing in hotels and newer construction is the ¾ length Lexington coat. (show picture of this). It’s definitely more fashion forward and looks very dapper over a tailored suit or the more traditional looks.

Going even shorter, a carcoat or peacoat is very much en vogue right now. Of course, these were originally designed for ease when driving but their functionality translates to other activities and for occupations where people are on constantly on their feet, they might be more comfortable.

As you can see, there are many ways to keep your doormen warm and at the same time, looking good this winter. The key is figuring out which look you are going for and not forget that uniforms are part of branding. Not least, don’t delay your decisions as there is always a lead time for custom items, and winter is around the corner.
