It’s officially Fall and that means it’s time to really start dressing. Less skin means more fabric and more ways to show off your Fall fashion. If the recent runways are any indication, here’s what you should be stocking up on to really step out in style until the end of the year.

Plaid Fad

It never goes away, it just changes. Elegant tailoring and bold color combinations mean a new look for a classic design.

Everyone’s getting in on the plaid game too. Check out these extreme designs like Balenciaga’s  bright double-breasted wool coat, Y/Project’s head-scratching two-tone plaid pants, or Molly Goddard’s retro-twisted sweater. Or just mix them all together with a Versace blazer.

There are plenty of more casual plaid looks too, for every article of clothing. Zara alone has a wide range of plaid designs from dresses, jumpsuits, overalls, suits, leggings, and even a glossy rain hat.

All That Shine

If it sparkles, shimmers, or shines, it’s probably in this season. Even a little sparkle, gloss, or sequin goes a long way.

Sequins can class things up like this subtly embroidered blouse from Mango or a metallic sweater from Alexander McQueen? Gloss is still staying afloat with more palatable pieces like this trenchcoat from Rains or these straight-leg pants from Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. Maybe a little more subtle shine like this lime dress from Balman.

Some designers are going all the way too. Can you pull of this Yves Saint Laurent vintage sequined jacket? Or maybe this Nicole Miller sequined bomber jacket is more your style? Or a floral meets sequin skirt to match? How about a fire-engine red gloss trenchcoat?

Fuzzy Fashion

Chic shearling jackets are the cozy trend for when the chill sets in. Keep your puff jackets in the closet and get some faux fur. Shades of pink and plum are all the rage, but there are plenty of colors to choose from.

Stay on trend with this pink coat from Shrimps, this plum one from Desa Collection, or this accented get-up from Sandy Liang.

Buck the color trend with this jade coat from Cedric Charlier or add some bite with this edgy zipped shearling coat from Beau Souci.

Vivid Accents

Brightly colored tights are replacing the floral and patterned leggings as seasonal go-tos. It’s a great way to add personality to muted fall and winter outfits. Any solid color works from a luscious red to cool blue or neon green.

Neon itself is still making waves for those bold enough to wear it. How about a little ‘80s chic with this two-tone sweater from Maison Margiela or this more accented look from Balenciaga or this eye-popping oversized cardigan from Christopher Kane? Don’t forget to match your neons with more subtle, neutral pieces to balance them out.

Logo Mania

The ‘90s logo look is still in full force in street fashion with Supreme leading the charge. Every brand is getting into the street chic game for the look or the name recognition.

Burberry has a whole line of graffiti-inspired looks like this A-line skirt or this vandalized plaid hat. Levi’s is keeping it simple with a classic logo look.

Fendi is going for a more subtle, classically patterned look from trenchcoats to sweaters and bags.

Versace has gotten into the logo game from simple text to outlandish designs with its own brand AND Vogue adorned clothing.

It’s almost a guarantee that your favorite brand is going to have their logo emblazoned on fashion this fall.

The Right Cut

No matter what style you go for with Fall fashion in 2018, here’s what’s trending when it comes to cuts.

Ankle Skirt: The right length is enough to cover up for cooler weather without having to hibernate your awesome shoe collection. Check out this satin skirt by Sonia Rykiel or this low-key ankle-skirt from Noon by Noor.

Side Slits: Going long doesn’t mean you can’t show a little bit of skin. Side slits are a perfect peek to keep Fall fashion sexy. Check out this side-slit sweater dress by Jacquemus or this more refined peek from Veronica Beard for inspiration.

Oversized: When it comes to jackets, cardigans, and cold-weather comfort, you can’t go too big. Minimalist from Comme Des Garçons, branded from Balenciaga, futuristic from MM6 Maison Margiela, or professional plaid from Maison Margiela. Every style magnified.

Sleek Suits: On the other hand, when you’re keeping things professional-looking, you’ll want to go as sleek as possible. A classic two-piece suit from Dsquared2, a plaid look from Gabriela Hearst, a primary-color-coded wrap blazer from Rosie Assoulin.
