Bring on the Stockings!!!

In today’s much more lax dress environment, pantyhose have become optional for women in many work situations. Personally, as someone who tends to run cold, I love pantyhose or stockings for the warmth factor. But most importantly, they are a great addition to your wardrobe.

We certainly have come a long way since the early Legs days when options were pretty limited to solid or sheer tones, usually in black or a variation of beige. Today, there is such a wide array of styles out there, so much so that the hose itself is its own element of style not just something to be complementary. A sleek black dress with a daring lace, pearl or seam up the back pantyhose/stocking adds a whole different dimension to the look. Below are some of my favorites for this season and some tips to wear them with.

I can see wearing these Abby Tights from Wolford throughout the holiday season. Decked out with Swarovski studs from the foot to the lower shin, you can go more casual with black cropped pants or show them off on New Years Eve with a sleek black dress. I wouldn’t introduce a lot of other color to the outfit, maybe silver but that would be it as the hose say enough.

Fogal’s Edmèe lace hose have winter written all over them. Made from 52% wool and 17% silk, you won’t feel bare legged. Also though, they are available not only in black but burgundy, a color that exudes warmth. The tasteful lace pattern has an almost gothic element without seeming “goth.” If you choose burgundy, a trim black, grey, tan or even winter white dress would be perfect.

I’m not suggesting that you spend on $738 on stockings but if you do, La Perla’s Neoprene Desire is what your money will get you. This early 20th century design can be worn without suspenders because of an inner silicon strip. But let’s face it, you’re paying for the look more than the comfort and truly, these stockings are a work of art with this intricate stretch tulle embroidery. Even if you walked outside stark naked, chances are no one notice anything but the stockings themselves.
